Project P

The Story

P for Priscilla, which stands for longevity or long-running. Rightfully bestowed, as Project P is a 1987 Land Rover Defender 90 that was originally registered under Malaysia DID or the Department for Irrigation & Drainage as a pair with another Defender 90 at the same time.

She was later decommissioned from work and went into private ownership in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. When we acquired her, it was a reluctant sale by the owner. She was very original and we recognized that she need to be brought back to her full glory.

The car came with an original 200tdi engine, that engine was very good offroad, but it is noisy in the higher gears and have a limit of what it can do on the highway. We decided to keep its charm and its utilitarian nature but to improve it for city driving. So in went a 300tdi engine with a 4 speed automatic gearbox from a Discover 1. This makes it more drivable in the city while retaining its offroad capability when required.

We decided to keep its original patina and setup. Paired it up with some spaced out 16 inch wheels and larger than stock BFGoodrich KO2 All Terrain tyres. Old Man Emu suspensions all round and a RTC steering damper in the front.

The Jungle Lady in the City

She drives men crazy, thats it in a sentence. The Defender Short Wheel Base is very rare in Malaysia as very limited quantities were ever registered on the road. With a very sporty and sexy short rear end, she perks up and draws all the eyes to her rear end.

Bundles with big tyres over a while stand, it remains firmly planted to the ground. the front end is the standard Defender face that garners respect in all situations. Targeted at the sporty or outdoorsy lady, who wears red heels into the city in week, Priscilla parks easily into the tighest space, and catches up with traffic with ease, while glowing with an aura and presence on the road. During the weekend, she takes your pots of plants and shovels and soil in the pickup tub, or your seaside or camping gear as you head out into your adventures.
