The story of 517. Who are we?

517 Customs as we calls ourselves, is a branch out from Hannibal Safari Equipment Asia. Hannibal Safari Equipment Asia (HSEA) is based out from Singapore and is a regional distributor for primarily South African expedition overland equipment.

Hannibal Safari Equipment has evolved to be a regional Expedition Outfitter and consultancy for Expedition Overland Vehicle project builds as well as regional Expediton Overland event organizer and coordinator. Advicing and overseeing vehicle builds for customer, and organization of events all over the region directly or via partners.

517 Customs is a branch out that came into existence due to the requirement to not just look at the modification or addons that we can put into a vehicle but to focus on sourcing for base vehicles that is most suited for purpose as well as options available that is out of the box for our expedition builds. Thus we are able to offer consultancy from the sourcing of the vehicle, the country of registration best for its intended purpose, up to outfitting them from concept to reality.

Primarily specialized in 4 by 4 and expedition and overland vehicles, we have now evolved to saving and restoring old cars, not only as base vehicles for expedition builds, but also back to basics as retro and classic collectible vehicles. We may not end with 4 by 4s, someday we might even get into classic-classic or custom-custom builds. But for now, we present you our interpretation in 4WD restoration and curation service.

So what is 517, you ask. 5tay 1n 7ouch. There is nothing to a fancy name if it doesn’t reflect what we do. Ultimately everything is about passion for purpose, and it’s about people. No matter if its classic car, or expedition, its about going out there, and staying in touch with people you love and friends you make along the way.
